US woman, Nicole McGuinness, was featured on the well-known HGTV show Beachfront Bargain Hunt. Dr. Erich Voigt was watching this show at home when he noticed a mass in her neck. Right away, thyroid cancer came to his mind.

He told ABC News, “As a head and neck surgeon, I'm trained to notice these things." Dr. Voigt used his Facebook platform in an attempt to warn Nicole.

He wrote, “I am watching a TV show and notice this woman has a left thyroid mass.” “She needs a sonogram and fine needle biopsy I wonder if she knows and hope it's benign.” The message was shared on social media and eventually made it to Nicole through her mother's friend.

Nicole, 32 years old, had recently gone through treatment for an extremely rare brain cancer called glioblastoma. When she found out what the doctor had noticed, she was shocked. She went right away to see a specialist.

Nicole told Good Morning America “We were sort of in shock, we did not expect a doctor, on television, from states away that we did not know to come up with some kind of diagnosis."

Doctor Erich Voigt's diagnosis was verified by the specialist Nicole went to see. Nicole recently met Dr. Voigt on Good Morning America for the first time. As you could imagine, Nicole was extremely grateful for Dr. Voigt's detection.

Nicole said to Doctor Voigt, “I'm going to try to say this without getting emotional." “I have gone through a lot these last couple of years and never expected to have to be a cancer survivor twice, but without you keeping a vigilant eye and watching that television show, who knows how long I would have gone on without that being checked.”
